The weather was dull and gray, the river was running fast. The rowers were in for a test of their stuff. Similar to learning martial arts,
rowers learn to row at a low "rate". Usually in the 20 something strokes per minute. When they try to row at higher rates they have
difficulty keeping the boat together.
Boats that are in "sync" go fast. If the rowers pull hard but are out of sync with each other, the boat does not go fast. As the season
progresses, the boat timing improves and the water speed increases.
At Kent our boats had good races but we have room for improvement. The goal is to peek at Interschols.
