April 13th - Deerfield, CRI, BC HIGH and St. John's Prep 24 Page 4
Another great day of racing. The river Gods gave us smooth water and calmish winds. The current was a bit squirrelly.
we had some good wins, some tough losses and a very very close G2 race with only 0.6 seconds between the three boats. Our girls' boat
travel at about 5m/s so the difference after rowing about 1600 meters in 311 seconds was only about 3.5 meter and 0.6 seconds. That
means the first boat was 0.2% faster than the third boat. Every ounce of strength, every millisecond of timing and every cm of precision matters. This
is why the rowers work so hard every day to get better. Coxswains learn to feel the boat and can tell when everyone is balanced and synchronized.
